This gearbox features a 1:1.47 Speed Up gear ratio for use on 5′ and larger diameter rotary cutters.
Industry standard 1-3/8″ smooth diameter input shaft with 1/2″ shear bolt hole and retaining ring groove and 1.57″ diameter 12 tapered spline output shaft allow fitment to most light, standard
and medium duty rotary cutters.
Each gearbox features high speed ball bearing units and heat treated gears and shafts to ensure long life. Four bolt mounting matches industry standards.
Each gearbox includes blade carrier mounting nut and cotter pin.
Gearboxes are shipped dry and require 16 ounces of 85W-90 gearlube gear oil or equivalent.

Q: I have a Buhler Farm King 720 brush cutter and am wondering
if this gearbox would be adequate for this mower?
I used it on a 6 ft bush hog pulled by a 175 Massey Ferguson tractor and it works fine
I am not 100% sure. This is a standard gearbox that fits many different brands of 4,5,6′ machines. You will need to just check the dimensions and shaft sizes of mine against your current box.

The rule of thumb is to have a gear box of 10 HP for each foot of width of the mower
You need to know how many splines are on your output shaft.
Most bolt patterns are the same.
The output shaft splines are what really matters. 12 spline is 40hp gearbox used on small bush hogs and grass only bush hogs.
15 spline is used in 60hp gearbox used on 6ft and larger bush hogs.
A 60hp gearbox will stand up to small tree and brush mowing.
Not sure on hp sizes above 60 but I know they make them.
Take you stump jumper off and count the spline on the shaft this will put you in the ballpark to the gearbox hp rating.
